2006 - International Year of Desertification
June 5 – World Environment Day
UNDP CO office in Kyrgyzstan and Informational Network CARNet are
using new
Internet based method to promote ecological issues in the frame
of World
Environment Day celebration.
On June 5, when World Environment Day is celebrated, the exhibition
of ecological caricature and paintings by Emil Djaparovich Shukurov,
Leading Ecology Expert of Central Asia, professor, doctor of geographic
science, is being open at UN House.
The organizers anticipate that principal objective of the exhibition
is to draw attention to ecological issues through paintings and
assist ecological organizations in holding visual agitation.
Due to great interest in this theme and exhibition, CARNet network
and portal www.caresd.net have organized Internet version of the
exhibition. Uniting environment issues and capabilities of informational
technology, internet network CARNet tried to give everyone an opportunity
to see unique works. CARNet network staff in Kyrgyzstan, in close
collaboration with author of arts, carefully scanned and worked
out the huge pile of graphic materials and then allocated its on
their portal in Internet network. The unicity of the event is also
because the electronic exhibitions starts in one time with regular
exhibition. Caricatures and paintings are the world that is hard
to express by words. Cartoons presented on the exhibition not only
reflect ecological issues but also interrelation of donor organizations,
NGOs and state bodies. Being simultaneously Manager of the Leading
Central Asian ecological NGO and member of several Evaluation Committees,
scientist and artist, Emil Shukurov managed visually reflect diversity
and correlation of serious ecological issues with human activity.
Majority of caricatures have author signature and comments made
by sense of humor and irony but totally revealing essence of the
situation and accenting the issue. Collection of ecological sketches
was published in Moscow and Cambridge, caricatures exhibitions were
held in Moscow and Novosibirsk.
Professor paintings deserve separate attention. Being painted by
pastel with distinctive color softening and velvet surface, they
amaze by their depth and magnificence of nature diversity in Kyrgyzstan
frozen on a leaf. Landscape exhibitions were held in Moscow, Kiev
and Saint Petersburg.
The regular exhibition will present more than 200
caricatures and 19 paintings, but electronic exhibition in Internet
will present about 300 caricatures and 211 paintings done by ecologist-artist.
Exhibition will be held from June 5 till June 10, 2006 at UN House,
but electronic exhibition on Internet portal www.caresd.net, will
last till the end of month. In the frame of electronic exhibition
voting for the best caricatures will be held.
